Where can I go to flee your love?

Where could I run to hide away?

The highest heaven? You are there.

The deepest depth? You’re there the same.

If I could fly on wings at dawn

to find the far side of the sea, 

still there your hand would lead me on.

Still there your love would hold me safe.

 

If I should try to hide at night 

when darkness covers all my way, 

you laugh for all's the same to you:

The night shines just as bright as day

 

My ways, O God, you've always known.

You knit me in my mother's womb. 

I praise you for your wondrous work

and all the days you've seen me through.

 

How precious are your thoughts, O God,

Your knowledge of us night and day. 

To list them all, I'd fall asleep,

and in the morn with you I'd wake.
