Psalm 139

Search Me: A prayer for the difficult part of Psalm 139

Refrain:
Search me and know my heart  Search me
Search me and know my heart  Search me

Verse 1:
Where can I hide from your knowing?

The dark to you is daylight.
If be in me seeds of suffering,

break them open into life.

Verse 2:
Where could I fly from your presence?

You knit my life together.
Anger can pull me past justice;

lay your hand on me forever.

Verse 3:
More than the sand on the seashore,

your precious thoughts amaze me
Power and hatred rise in me;

lead me in the timeless way.

La Noche: Solemn celebration of the mystery.

La noche resplandece como͜ el dia para Ti

(The night shines like the day to you)

Where can I go to flee your love?

Where could I run to hide away?

The highest heaven? You are there.

The deepest depth? You’re there the same.

La noche resplandece como͜ el dia para Ti

La noche resplandece como͜ el dia para Ti

If I could fly on wings at dawn

to find the far side of the sea,

still there your hand would lead me on.

Still there your love would hold me safe.

If I should try to hide at night

when darkness covers all my way,

you laugh for all's the same to you:

The night shines just as bright as day

My ways, O God, you've always known.

You knit me in my mother's womb.

I praise you for your wondrous work

and all the days you've seen me through.

How precious are your thoughts, O God,

Your knowledge of us night and day.

To list them all, I'd fall asleep,

and in the morn with you I'd wake.

Where can I go from your presence

     or hide from your love?

Where can I go from your presence

     or hide from your love?

You have searched me and you know me,

when I rest and rise.

You can trace my every journey.

You know all my ways,

You know all my ways.

Now before I left my mother,

nurtured in her womb

There you knit my life together

full and wonderful,

full and wonderful.

All my days are in your keeping.

Search my heart, O God.

May your Holy Spirit fill me.

I will bear your heart,

I will bear your heart
