When Israel Went Out From Egypt (Psalm 114)

The psalmist sings the story of the Exodus.

When Israel went out from Egypt
The house of Jacob from that place of foreign tongue
Judah became God's holy sanctuary
Israel became God's realm to rule

The Red Sea saw it and ran away
The Jordan River turned back
The mountains danced like rams
The hills skipped like lambs

Sea, why do you run away?
River, why turn back?
Mountains, why dance and hills why skip?

The earth trembles in awe at the Holy One,
Trembles in awe at the God of Jacob

Who turned a desert stone into a pool
and a rock into a fountain.
